내가 죄를 지을 때, 나는 사실상 하나님이 보지 못하신다고 믿거나, 혹은 그분 앞에서 내가 영적 간음을 저지르고 있다는 현실을 외면하는 것이다. 그러나 하나님은 나를 다 보신다. 그리고 내 죄를 있는 그대로 부르신다. 반드시 너의 간음이 너를 찾아낼 것이다.

And so your sin matters. (49) When I sin, I am functionally believing that God cannot see – or I am functionally ignoring the reality that I am committing spiritual adultery. But he sees all of me, and he calls my sin for what it is. Be sure that your adultery will find you out. If I were to remember each time I am tempted to live for my glory rather than for God’s that what I am being tempted to do is to commit spiritual adultery, I imagine I would resist temptation much more successfully. (51) Second, sin matters because sin is corporate… God;s verdict was not just that Achan had sinned; it was that Israel had sinned… God will not be with those who tolerate, excuse or belittle sin’s presence among his people… (52) Rev 2:5 If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place… The waring is this: the Holy Spirit will depart unless we name our sin for what it is and then deal with it accordingly. So confess your sin for there is always forgiveness at the cross. Luke 15 admit your sins and come humbly back… If you are married, maybe you need to talk to your wife, confessing and asking her for forgiveness and support. The quality of a man’s ministry is often depicted on his wife’s face. Your wife doesn’t need a husband who is pretending he’s perfect. (58) Flee the sin. Fight the sin. Be ruthless. Mark 9:43 So, what is in your tent? What needs brining out into the light, for forgiveness and restoration? (59)
Chapter 3. Lead Yourself: You cannot lead others well if you cannot lead yourself well… The art of self-leadership is fundamental to successful leadership of any organisaion. (62) we need to recognize the effect that these things can have. When our environment is difficult, our resentment levels more easily rise and our sin is more easily excused… I need to remember the gospel in that, I need to battle sin during that, and I need to take my rest during that… (78) Self-leadership is essential, but it is not easy – and so being willing to listen and willing to be held accountable is utterly key. So first, we need to be ready to learn from those who have walked this way before us… we need friends with whom we commit to the CIA – confidentiality, intimacy, accountability. (79)
Chapter 4. Serve Your Church: the road to Jerusalem confronts us with the choice between worldly power and godly service. (88) Whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. (91) We need to embrace the ordinariness of much of our calling – because our calling is to serve, not to be seen. And after all, it is in fact all seen by the only eyes that matter, and in his sight no act of service for Jesus’ cause it truly “ordinary”. (94) in Christian leadership we have to choose between security and suffering… the world seeks position to provide security: the pension, the house, the money in the back, the college fund.
