1. Bible Movement
If students can learn to bring the whole of their lives under the control of the Word of God, they will be able to teach others in their churches and to arouse in them the same appetite for the Word.
We want university students to apply their minds to the study of the Bible with the same thoroughness and intellectual integrity with which they study their own subjects.
We believe that it is possible and right to combine a belief in the entire trustworthiness of the Bible with a critical openness to what biblical scholarship can teach us. We want to avoid being so conservative and traditional that we become fixed and dogmatic in our understanding of God’s truth; and on the other hand, we want to avoid being so open to modern thinking that we surrender to the spirit of the age.
We seek to use different teaching methods, and to encourage students not only to listen to experts, but also to think for themselves and to use their minds to discover the riches of the revealed truth of God. Many of our Bible study aids, therefore, are not designed to give all the right answers, but rather to raise the right questions and suggest the most helpful lines of study.
