She is a human and I am a terrier, so my hearing is much better than hers. The Distress Call came again. There was only one thing to do. I jumped out of the dogbox. If Dr Jeanie had been riding fast, I would have been hurt, but I landed safely on the grass at the side of the road... I wanted to run after her, but I gave myself a lecture. ' Trump, you are an A.L.O. You heard a Distress Call and it is your duty to respond. Dr Jeanie will miss you soon. Then she will come back for you.'" (57-59) 

Pet Vet 시리즈 중 하나. 다친 밥의 울음을 멀리서 듣고 오토바이에서 트럼프가 뛰어 내리는 장면이 인상적이다. 딸이 빨리 책을 읽고 두었길래 나도 읽고서 내용을 물어보았더니 제법 내용을 많이 이해하고 있다. 트럼프가 울음소리를 듣고서도 빨리 지나가는 길이니까, 잘못 들었을 수도 있으니까 하고 그냥 주인과 집으로 돌아가버렸다면 어땠을까. 책을 읽고 질문들을 만들어 딸과 같이 나누어보아야겠다. 개를 무서워하는 딸이 책을 통해서도 조금씩 마음을 열면 좋겠다.
